Monday here we come

After subuh on Thursday, everyone was busy getting ready to go to Angels home to catch the shuttle bus to Amman. We had to be there by 11 and meetup with everyone else. We were asked to bring some food as it was a potluck lunch.  So we decided to goreng nasi (all of our nasi), some keropok rainbow and some nuggets....as we thought we would eat each others food over there so masak banyak2 la. Haaa

But in actual fact, they fed us generously with so much variety of food and desserts. We got to see the seniors there and share meals with them at their house. Ade rendang daging, ayam masak merah (?) and so much more. I also was just in awe of their house. Its bigger than ours here but they only have two rooms to share and the rent is really quite high.

Nevertheless, we enjoyed their cooking and getting to know the seniors was interesting. We slowly got to know each others names and it felt just like those mini open house gatherings with your school mates for hari raya :") Btw, theres this one senior muka sebiji my bestie....yg tgh blaja in Turkey. You should see the resemblance omg twiiiins I cannot. Haha

After some chit chatting and photo taking we had to leave around 3.30pm to go sightseeing at the malls. First, we went to Mekah mall as they said it was slightly cheaper than City mall, but going there on the day of raya meant that most of the shops were closed and only some of the bigger branded shops were open...boooring. So we all left Mekah mall after praying asar to go to City mall where its triple the size and there was a Carrefour.woohooo

So da sampai City mall ya Allah besar sangat and semua kedai buka, its full of shops like Bershka, Pull and Bear, Zara etc. But the sad part was that the prices were ridiculous even though it was a public holiday. Haalllooo discount ah sikit :'( After walking around in and out of the shops, me and my roommate masuk Carrefour beli barang masak sikit and then we went to eat Pinkberry (YUM) while waiting for the time to go back to the meeting point.

Once everyone was inside the bus, we made our way back to Irbid *sad face*
It was around 6.30pm when we left Amman and during our trip back and forth, we passed by some sheep and cows for the Eid sacrifice :)

Amman memang best untuk jalan2 because theres lots of hills and empty roads you can just walk aimlessly around to calm your mind....but I didnt actually walk around but cantik permandangan kat sana. Ma sha Allah. Sampai rumah just on time before Isha' masuk and for dinner my roommate yang jarang masak (memang tak masak pon) surprised us with her cooking haha. Comel je dia masak...presentation pon melebih-lebih :') Alhamdulillah the food was quite good.

~

On Friday, all of us woke up late cause there was a random midnight girl talk up till 3am *oops* we just talked about anything thats been occupying our minds lately and bonded talking about life.

After some pancakes for breakfast made by yours truly, my friend yang jarang masak tu tanya: Nak tengok Scorch Trials tk? I was like...oh okay boleh ah memang nak tgk pon tapi online tak clear. So thats how my impromptu movie date with her happened..haha. Memang case boring sangat kat rumah and wanted some fresh air anyways. We watched it in 3D at Irbid City Centre and after that went to buy some groceries for my friend yang nak masak spaghetti ala Aglio Olio for dinner that night. Alhamdulillah sedapzzz

~

On Saturday pulak,  after subuh I was on my laptop to check the student portal and see my subject schedule to plan out my study calender....and after that did some financial management to see how much of my expenses is needed for the next few months. Aduhai...someone shoot me already -_- baru 10 hari je dah stress pasal duit. Allahumma yassir fala tu'assir.

So after being on my bed for so long I decided to experiment in my cooking. The rest were either asleep or in their rooms and I had the whole kitchen to myself. It was like a battlefield in there I tell you...pikir macam masterchef ah campak sini campak sana nanti in the end sedap juga. Lol tepung semua splattered everywhere and my clothes and hands were covered in crusty flour eugh. Actually plan nak masak curry ayam and prata but my prata ended up tasting like chapati but my curry was decent since Ive tried making it before. All in all we had chapati brunch at 2pm.

We didnt go out after that and just stayed at home, some of us did some laundry and some of us just stayed online. For dinner, we decided to order out pizza since we agreed that Sat is the only day we eat out while each of us will cook once or twice for the rest of the week. We even have a duty rooster to keep track who does laundry on which day and for taking turns taking out the trash.

So instead of starting school on a Sunday which all of us thought was the first day, Monday will be the day school reopens. Wish me luck! i just hope I can make some Arab friends soon so I wont feel so lost in uni. Amin

Thats all for now. Bismillahi tawakkal ala Allah
Assalamualaikum!

Eid mubarak!

So I called my family to see whats up in sg....and they were eating my favourite dishes for iftar. Nenek masak :( I called at the perfect timing ya.

I found out that 2 of my sisters will be following my cousin here in december in sha Allah. Yayy more people!

Alhamdulillah I managed to fast on this blessed day even though missed my sahoor. Cleaned the balcony today and wiped the windows....it was super difficult to remove the stains and dusts clumped behind the aircon ventilator. Lots of kulit kacang and cigarette sticks all over...eugh.

Before maghrib...half an hour before...our sweet kakak sebelah rumah ketuk pintu and kasi kuih cornflakes (!!) ade nutella and peanut butter yumm. We talked for a while and she wanted to look around the house also. It was nice getting to know her and we asked her questions that we've been dying to know the answers to. Just found out that they are only 2 years apart from us and soon graduating...whuut WHUttt -_- patutlah muka dorang muda sangat and lawa haha. They also said the house was very dusty when we moved in because of the sandstorm which occured a few weeks ago.

Anyways, our dinner/iftar menu for today was Nasi Briyani ayam style arab of course and for part 2 of the meal, we ordered murtabak heluu (means; sweet). Alhamdulillah kenyang sangat :)

Thank you for reading this random rant of mine,
Till next time in sha Allah
Hope all of you have a blessed eid! Kullu am wa antum aqrab ilaAllah!
Assalamualaikum lovely people. Gnite

5 hours behind...

Yay we're going to Amman on Thursday!
Hari raya kat sana...cant wait :)

So just a quick update:
1- Im starting to get used to my roommates just because we just got to know each other here and living together with them is kinda fun. If it was with people I already know....it would be boring and my life would pretty much revolve around the same people.

2- Kinda want to eat healthy and try...TRY...to loose weight here. I mean tak susah kan makan veggies and fruits everyday? nasi pon dah kurang....cuma shawarma and fried chicken here menggugat nafsuku. aduhai.

3- Why cant the people here realize that smoking in a strangers home is NOT OK. Like nope. Get out and smoke all you want outside. Dont contaminate our house and leave dirty footprints all over our living room with your shoes (!!)

4- Jordon's summer is HOT superrrr hot with the glaring sun sampai buat orang pening. We went to the balad(pasar) bila tengah hari and balik semua just baring kat katil pasal panasnya kuat sangat. Its not humid...just glaring hot. Padahal nak masuk fall seh sini

5- Managing my own money expenses suck. I dont know what Im doing with my money most of the time. Keeping track is difficult and theres just too many things you need to do since youre living in your own apartment with three other people with polar opposite views and mindset. Sometimes you just need to give and take.

6- Alhamdulillah for everything since Im starting to enjoy my own freedom and I want to get back into studying mode asap.

7- Also super excited for a certain guest to come during winter...its gonna be loads of fun with their company. WINTER SNOW FUN here we come....whoooooosh :)

Fi hifzillah semua
Assalamualaikum!

Before school starts...

Hello!
So yesterday was Sunday, the start of the week and school starts this coming Sunday another 5 more days. In sha Allah! So these past few days have been nothing but cleaning up and preparing for when Uni opens :)

We mostly went out to the shops nearby our building and I bought some stationary and a whiteboard for myself to use. I kinda regret not bringing my stuff from sg but luggage da penuh sangat :/ So a lot of things we terpaksa beli ataupun share.

Me and some of my friends from tingkat atas went to this cafe....and I tell you baaanyak sangat cafe kat sini. Spoilt for choices...they have chocolate fondue and fruit juices of different kinds *-* So the five of us ordered a variety of fruit juices and two cakes...altogether it was 16jd. Ok lah nak try for the first time. Sedaaaap haha

We went again to Arabella mall also and bought a few items for our kitchen. I cant wait till classes start!

So the next day on a Monday morning, all of us went to Uni to settle our school fees and we saw a few students lining up to pay also. Cant help but wonder if theyre gonna be in the same class as us in a weeks time. We 'asians' stand out cause of our looks as Arab people in my opinion look much mature and they dress so elegantly. haha compared to us yang sarung je jubah and tudung.

So after settling our fees the wifi guy called saying he would come today to set up our cable wifi. So tak jadilah our plan to go to souqul balad AGAIN after days of planning and postponing. In sha Allah soon before class starts!

And I dont know if its their way of doing their job or its in their culture but everytime a person comes to fix or install something in the house, they just leave without clearing up the 'mess' or work they did. Kinda frustrating to clean up everytime dorang datang...da lah pakai kasut masuk rumah. Haiss....sabar je.

So we took a nap before going out again to attend this talk about eidul adha around 5.30 pm. All of us were excited to go because it was our first class since arriving here. Just as we were leaving the building, my friend opened her whatsapp and one of our senior (guys) informed the talk was only meant for banin (boys)....greaaaat. Tapi da siap kan...so we decided to walk around the area. We ended up visiting this really cool bookshop ade banyak buku arab and ade dictionaries. Obv, I bought myself a few...but for learning the language only as the doctors will tell us what books to buy during the first lessons.

We arrived after maghrib and lapar pasal tak makan proper food since morning so I decided to cook! (proud) just a simple nasi goreng campak as I added the asam pedas from my friend nya masakan semalam and rempah instant my freind bawak from sg. We also goreng keropek rainboww...mmmm memang proud to call it my cooking haha.

Only a few days time till the eid celebration. Hope all is doing well and healthy. Amin. Sending lots of love to all of you :) missing everyone dearly...will update soon again in sha Allah.

Assalamualaikum kullu am wa antum bi khair!

Dah macam restaurant seh cheyh (proud)

Pretty2 skies. Ignore the humans haha

Everytime we leave our building nampak dorang. There Syrians and lots of their people live in homes alongside our building

Carpark inside Uni

Arabella mall. Carrefour lagi besar

Seriously the juices are big and naise....so refeshing. Its 2.50jd per mug worth it la

On the 18th and 19th

Assalamualaikum wahai keluarga di sg :)

Yesterday me and my classmate went to Arabella mall just the two of us. Actually our friends kat atas dah ajak pegi tapi ktorg malas nak keluar and siap. We wanted to clean the balcony and living room but that idea also sounded really unappealing....so ktorg keluar in the end. Haha

So the third mall that we went nama supermarket dia C-town (secute) and ade kedai baju and kedai perkakas rumah, semua brand arab ah. Tkde brand yg familiar.

So on that fine day! guess what happened! memang adventure skejap ah klaka sgt.
The two of us met up with the rest of our friends yg da pegi mall tu dulu and we plan nak balik sama2 so dorg pakai lift naik letak trolley dulu then they went down to fetch us in the lift. Faham tk? haha ok sorry tk bagus cerite.

So all of us took the lift together, all 8 of us naik then the lift tkde sensor and I got halfway stuck when the door nak close....so my grocery bag tersangkut kat pintu lift and the door tutup with my plastic bag kat luar terstuck  -_-

Then all of a sudden lift dia shutdown! like tak berfungsi terus and its a normal sized lift which states the maximum capacity is 10 orang....so ktorg memang pikir blh la semua nak masuk kan. no problem.

TAPI YA ALLAH...we were in for a shock psl lift to tak gerak for like 10min and ktorg panic skejap with our hands waving frantically for someone to see us. So nasib baik ade pekerja nampak and dia panggil officer utk buka pintu lift tu yg na'uzubillah punyalah keras and susah nak pull apart.

So all of us one by one exited the lift with embarassed and flustered faces. Muka semua tunduk je ketawa and minta maaf banyak2 kat officer tu haha. He was like: TOO MUCH! TOO MUCH! Rupa2nya lift tu tkle more than 4 people at a time so like no wonder dia terus shutdown seh.

K tuje cerite dia :)

Ok so the next day me and my friend bangun kol 9 pagi and our other two roommates dah keluar siang2 pegi Irbid mall kol 6 pagi. They reached home around 11 and bought ALOT I mean ALOT of barang dapur and toilet. So ktorg spent the rest of the day cleaning the kitchen as well as our two toilets. Around 3pm gitu, Hussam (the landlord/housekeeper) dtg dengan kawan dia untuk pasang the sink and fix the flush for our toilet. Lepas tu dia keluar jap...and datang balik dgn baby dia...ya Allah...haha sempat dia bwk masuk baby dia bwk tgk2 rumah ktorg yg tgh berserak gile :') tapi dpt juga dokong baby tu yg cuuuute sangat Ma sha Allah.

We took a break by watching the movie '21' while eating delicious hummus with pita bread. Our roommates yg keluar tadi pagi belikan plus some cakes as dessert. So after our break we continued with our cleaning spree/marathon by mopping (using wet wipes) the living room floor and finishing with the toilet. So now our house is 65% done with cleaning Alhamdulillah....slowly its starting to look like a home.

At 8.30pm we wanted to try to tawsil aka call delivery for some fried chicken at the famous shop dekat dengan building rumah ktrorg. Its called {Dalli' Karshak} which literally means in amiyyah: Pamper your fat stomach(!!) No wonder gambar logo dia is a picture of a biiiig guy holding a plate of chicken, Hah.

Bile nak call dia ade miscommunication sikit but we actually followed what our friends said when they ordered and they delivered within 10min. So my friend pegi collect the food at our door outside and memang mulut semua ternganga bile nampak the amount of food that arrived. BANYAK GILE mcm boleh makan 15 orang. Not kidding. Ni 4 org je nak makan gitu banyak? All of us could only laugh at the amount and we just decided to give some to neighbours kat atas.

So sambil makan tgk another movie(lol mentang2 da ade wifi) called 'Awake' and its pretty interesting. So after eating we heard the doorbell rang and terperanjat bile nampak our friends kat atas datang utk surprise us with some jemput2! banyak makan harini ma sha Allah. Semalam malam pulak dapat makan spaghetti rumah kawan lain masak...memang power ya ;)

Ok so thats all for now,
will update more in sha Allah! I pray all of you are in your best state of health and mind. Amin. Pray for us here too :)

Till next time,

The ups and downs

So my friend set up a blog so that her family could see updates about her life in Turkey for the next few years. She’s studying Usuluddin there. Credits to my dear friend for that idea….so here goes Bismillah!

Day 1:

I still remember that day to be very stressful and surreal. Ramai  sangat orang datang sampai tak dapat jumpa some of my friends. My muka also kerut psl stress sgt haha. But when the mufti (*screams) jumpa all of us and gave a small and powerful tazkirah, it slowly dawned on me that im going to be living alone and studying in a foreign land. Air mata memang dah mcm banjir ah lepas tu.

Anyways! Our flight to Jordon went smoothly and we reached Queen Alia Airport around 3+am. My very first time stepping onto Jordon soil…and breathing the air haha. History in the making. Seriously seh, selalu dengar cerite psl Mesr,Syria and Turkey even but Jordon never crossed my mind before. I had no single clue about this country and mcm pergi without any expectations. I just know that its expensive and has four seasons.

The journey frm Amman to Irbid takes ard 2 hours but because of an unfortunate incident (i.e tayar pancit/koyak) smpai our hostel an hour late. My roommates were 2 girls frm Aljunied and my classmate frm alsagoff. We were taken aback by the state of our apartment because it looked like it was vacant for a long time (i.e the amount of dust). So air dia is pakai pump and you have to on the switch for 30min then close it back for water to come in. We didn’t know which switch at first so….phm2 lah.

Day 2:

Ok…so we got our house and discussed what we needed to buy at Carrefour. Theres 3 malls that sg students normally buy their stuff which is Arabella mall, Irbid mall and Carrefour. Ade satu pasar juga nama dia souqul balad…tempat barang2 murah tapi blm pegi situ psl jauh and seniors tk recommend pegi sorang for the first time.

On this day (16th sept) was the orientation plus mini tour ard yarmouk uni. We went to Pustel (rumah students msia buat gatherings) and kakak VP SIRAJ ajar mcm mane nk log in to the student portal and register subjects. Lepas tu we were divided according to which takhassus we chose and the seniors went through the subjects that we were required to take in order to graduate. Ade Bahasa korea pon like omg daebak. Theres even P.E and an Aesthetic subject wow. Mmg tk sabar ah nk start class lepas bebual dgn kakak2. Over here also ade markaz lughah and Quran for us to learn ammiyah (Bahasa pasar) and baca dgn sanad. In sha Allah we all wanted to join. Since most of us are only taking 3 subjects for the first sem and I only go to sch for 2 days in a week (ikr 0_0).

Day 3:

So far we only went to Carrefour and Irbid mall utk beli barang and let me tell you….the prices here are kinda ridiculous esp for barang2 keperluan tapi in sha Allah once we know which brand yg bagus and affordable da blh mcm estimate nk belanje brape ah. Mmg nk kene explore sendiri ah takkan sikit2 nk tanya kakak2 but they did follow us to kind of advice on what and what not to buy. Alhamdulillah.

Pagi we makan nasi dgn lauk melayu (YAY) kat restaurant Nur Malaysia mmg sedap dan dpt lepaskan rindu makanan sg skejap. Lepas tu vacuum and rearrange furniture in our room. Then we naik atas rumah my other classmate tingkat 3 dia tinggal dgn kakak2 madrasah lain. We lepak dgn dorg and tolong kemas2 sikit (act tk ah bebual je bnyk) lepas tu pegi makan Nur Malaysia lagi this time I makan mee goring basah. Masin dia level 10 ah mcm rempah pon tk rasa sgt tapi tkpe experiment ye.

Ok! So begitulah our first days in Irbid. The weather here average cume afternoon matahari glaring sgt2. The first two nights we slept kat living room psl bilik semua tkde kipas lepas tu tidur kat bilik psl aircorn terlalu sejuk and badan sakit tidur atas sofa cushion. Malam dan pagi angin cooling sikit. They said that sepatutnya by this time summer should be over but because they said this year’s winter is gonna be the longest in 3 years….skrng masih panas. Tk sabar nk sejuk tapi takut ah haha.

Shoutout to our seniors here cos we seriously could not do anything by ourselves for the past 2/3 days straight.

Logging out,

Assalamualaikum semua J

The girls hostel for seniors even the landlady speaks eng...ma sha Allah!

In sha Allah

Kuliah Adab. Not ma faculty...dorg ckp ade sharii syaitan dekat daerah sini haha
